First article on the International Hemoglobinopathy Research Network (INHERENT) has been published with the endorsement of ERN-EuroBloodNet

“The International Hemoglobinopathy Research Network (INHERENT): an international initiative to study the role of genetic modifiers in hemoglobinopathies” has been recently published by the American Journal of Hematology

The International Hemoglobinopathy Research Network (INHERENT) is an international network that focuses on the study of genetic modifiers for hemoglobinopathies through a large-scale multi-ethnic genome-wide association study (GWAS). To achieve its primary objective, INHERENT brings together existing international and regional consortia in the field of hemoglobinopathies including the endorsement of ERN-EuroBloodNet, aiming at standardising phenotypic definitions and developing an open research infrastructure that will foster international collaboration for the benefit of patients and their families.

First article “The International Hemoglobinopathy Research Network (INHERENT): an international initiative to study the role of genetic modifiers in hemoglobinopathies” has been recently published by the American Journal of Hematology with the endorsement of ERN-EuroBloodNet. A high number of ERN-EuroBloodNet experts and members representatives participated in this publication, including Marina Kleanthous and Petros Kountouris (INHERENT coordinators), Maria del Mar Mañú Pereira, Baba Inusa and Aurelio Maggio.
